Taylor Swift Rarely Goes Makeup-Free in ‘Opalite’ Behind-the-Scenes Video

Singer Taylor Swift has surprised fans by appearing completely makeup-free in a behind-the-scenes video for her hit song Opalite.
On February 23, Swift celebrated Opalite reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by sharing a series of studio and production clips. The post opens with footage of the singer bare-faced in the recording studio alongside producer Max Martin. Wearing her naturally curly blonde hair, Swift looks fresh and radiant despite the lack of makeup. Other clips show behind-the-scenes moments from the music video shoot, where she dons a brown wig and 1980s-inspired outfits.

The candid appearance marks a rare moment of natural vulnerability for Swift, who is typically seen in polished, glamorous makeup looks. In the caption, the 14-time Grammy winner wrote: “Just a few Opalite memories to celebrate you taking this song to No. 1 on the Hot 100! I can’t even describe how excited I am and truly overwhelmed by the love you’ve shown this song and its music video.”

Swift noted that this is only the second time in her career she has had two songs from the same album reach No. 1 on the Hot 100—something she previously achieved with her 2014 album 1989.
Opalite is a pop track from Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The song stands out for its infectious melody, upbeat tempo, and explosive chorus—hallmarks of Swift’s successful collaborations with Max Martin. Lyrically, it is believed to explore emotional freedom and the journey of rediscovering one’s identity after personal upheaval.

The music video, written and directed by Swift, was released on February 6 and continues her signature visual storytelling style, blending nostalgic elements with playful, vibrant tones. Previously, the singer shared on Instagram that the concept for the project came to her suddenly while promoting the album on The Graham Norton Show in October 2025. She later invited fellow guests from the show—actors she has long admired—to appear in the video, including Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi.
