Global Best-Selling Single of 2025 Revealed

The song APT.—a collaboration between Rosé and Bruno Mars—has been officially named the best-selling single worldwide in 2025.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) recently released its annual ranking of the 20 best-selling singles globally, calculated based on total worldwide consumption, including paid subscriptions, ad-supported streaming platforms, and digital downloads.

According to the list, APT. claimed the No.1 position, capping off a highly competitive year for the global music market. The track outperformed major releases such as Golden, Ordinary, Die With A Smile, and Beautiful Things.
Notably, IFPI highlighted that APT. is the first No.1 single in the chart’s history not performed entirely in English, and also the first annual chart-topper led by artists from outside North America and Europe. With this achievement, Rosé becomes the first K-pop artist ever to lead IFPI’s global year-end singles ranking.

IFPI CEO Victoria Oakley commented:
“Rosé and Bruno Mars topping IFPI’s 2025 global singles chart with APT. is a landmark moment. This year’s results reflect the truly global nature of today’s music market, where songs can transcend language and borders.”
Previously, the highest-ranked Korean acts on this chart were PSY with Gangnam Style (No.3 in 2012) and BTS with Butter (No.4 in 2021).
According to IFPI, the success of APT. was driven by a globally synchronized release strategy, combining radio airplay, streaming platforms, and promotional activities across multiple markets, allowing the song to sustain its popularity over an extended period.

Short for “Apartment”, APT. was co-written by Rosé and Bruno Mars and released as an independent single. Its music video features a minimalist studio setting with strong artistic visuals, blending pop-rock elements that align with both artists’ musical strengths.
Released in October 2024, the track quickly gained traction worldwide, particularly in the United States. It earned a nomination for Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards, though it did not take home the prize. On YouTube, the APT. music video has surpassed 2.3 billion views. The song also spent 45 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No.3.
For Bruno Mars, this marks his first time topping IFPI’s global singles chart since Just the Way You Are in 2011. For Rosé, the achievement further solidifies her position as a leading solo artist beyond her work with Blackpink.
At the Grammy Awards 2026, Rosé and Bruno Mars delivered a joint performance of APT. as the opening act, receiving widespread praise from international media and audiences.
Born and raised in Australia, Rosé returned to South Korea at the age of 15 to train under YG Entertainment. After debuting as a member of Blackpink, she achieved global success over a decade-long career. Since late 2023, Rosé has pursued her solo career independently, while remaining under YG Entertainment for group activities with Blackpink.
