Iran launches intense attacks on Middle East bases, claims “200 U.S. troops casualties”

Iran said the United States suffered casualties among 200 troops during Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases across the Middle East. “As a result of missile attacks on U.S. bases, at least 200 American troops have been killed and wounded,” the Tasnim news agency quoted a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on February 28.

Commenting on the retaliation, IRGC General Ebrahim Jabbari warned U.S. President Donald Trump that Iran possesses “advanced capabilities” and is prepared for a prolonged conflict.
“When war begins, we will strike with everything we have in our stockpiles,” Jabbari said, warning that Iran would launch its “most powerful missiles.”

Jabbari added that Iran would continue attacks in the coming days in response to the military campaign by the United States and Israel.
“All U.S.-controlled territories and bases in the region have been heavily struck by Iranian missiles. This operation will continue relentlessly until the enemy is decisively defeated,” Iranian media quoted the IRGC as saying.

Earlier, with U.S. backing, Israel launched what it described as a preemptive strike against Iranian military and nuclear targets in the early hours of February 28. Israel said the attacks were aimed at neutralizing threats posed by Iran in the region. President Trump later confirmed that the White House supported Israel’s actions, citing the failure of nuclear diplomacy as the direct cause.

According to sources, Iran’s retaliation targeted multiple U.S. military facilities across the Middle East, including the Fifth Fleet support hub in Bahrain; a base in the Kurdistan region of Iraq; Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar; Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait; Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates; Muwaffaq Al Salti Air Base in Jordan; and Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Israeli media also reported that at least 35 missiles were fired toward Israel, injuring several people. Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan—countries hosting U.S. forces—said they intercepted Iranian missiles.

The UAE confirmed it intercepted most of the 137 missiles and 209 unmanned aerial vehicles launched toward its territory in the hours following the U.S.–Israeli operation. The UAE hosts around 5,000 U.S. troops at Al Dhafra Air Base, just outside Abu Dhabi.
