The European Union convened an emergency meeting to discuss a new support package for Ukraine and the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Moscow, as fighting intensifies in Eastern Europe.

EU leaders gathered in Brussels to assess the latest security developments and coordinate a unified response. According to officials familiar with the discussions, the proposed aid package could include expanded military assistance, financial support, and measures aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience.

At the same time, member states are considering fresh sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy. Potential measures reportedly include tighter restrictions on energy exports, financial institutions, and individuals linked to the Kremlin. Diplomats emphasized the importance of maintaining unity among the bloc’s 27 members to ensure the effectiveness of any new actions.

Several leaders underscored that continued support for Kyiv remains a strategic priority for European security. They argued that sustained pressure on Moscow is necessary to deter further escalation and to uphold international law.
