Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida, made the ultimate sacrifice on March 1, 2026, when an unmanned aircraft system attack struck Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. An Army Reserve officer supporting Operation Epic Fury with the 103rd Sustainment Command, Capt. Khork was serving far from home, dedicated to a mission rooted in logistics, security, and the unwavering support of fellow soldiers.
His military journey began in 2009 when he enlisted as a fire direction specialist, demonstrating early on his commitment to mastering complex and high-responsibility roles.
Driven by a desire to lead, he earned his commission as a military police officer in 2014, stepping into positions that required courage, integrity, and calm under pressure. Over the next decade, he deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2018, Guantanamo Bay in 2021, and Poland in 2024 — each assignment reflecting the Army’s trust in his leadership and professionalism.
Throughout more than 15 years of service, Capt. Khork built a reputation as a dependable and mission-focused officer. His contributions were recognized with numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal — honors that speak to both excellence and sustained dedication. Whether supporting logistics operations or overseeing security missions, he carried out his responsibilities with a steadfast commitment to those around him.
Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, Chief of Army Reserve, acknowledged the weight of this loss, stating, “Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten.” Those words resonate deeply as Capt. Khork’s loved ones and fellow service members reflect on a life defined by duty and service. Behind every uniform stands a family that shares in the burdens of deployment, separation, and risk. In this moment of grief, his family has respectfully asked for privacy as they mourn.
Capt. Khork’s legacy is one of leadership forged through experience and strengthened by dedication. He answered every call to serve — from his early enlisted days to his years as a commissioned officer — embodying the values of loyalty, honor, and selfless service.
His work in sustainment operations ensured that missions could move forward and that soldiers under his watch were protected and supported.
Today, we remember Capt. Cody A. Khork not only for the rank he achieved or the medals he earned, but for the quiet, steady commitment he gave to his country and his colleagues. His service leaves a lasting mark, and his sacrifice will be honored with gratitude and respect.
