🌍 Azerbaijan Congratulates Iran’s New Supreme Leader Amid Rising Tensions

Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev, has sent a congratulatory message to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei following his appointment as Iran’s new Supreme Leader. In the letter, Aliyev expressed condolences over the death of Khamenei’s father and said he hoped the two countries would continue developing relations based on mutual respect and cooperation.

The diplomatic message comes at a sensitive time. Tensions between the two neighbors have recently risen after Azerbaijan accused drones launched from Iranian territory of striking the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, injuring civilians and damaging infrastructure—an allegation Tehran has denied.

Despite the dispute and security concerns, Aliyev emphasized the importance of maintaining good-neighborly relations and stability in the region.
