WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect is facing multiple charges after a U.S. Park Police officer was shot during a confrontation earlier this week.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of March 24, 2026, near a federal park area in northwest Washington, according to officials.

Authorities said the situation began as a routine encounter before escalating quickly when the suspect opened fire, striking the officer. Emergency responders transported the injured officer to a nearby hospital. The officer’s condition has not been publicly updated.
