Statuette of Amenhotep

Funerary wooden Ka statues representing the brothers Nebreshy and Amenhotep. New Kingdom, circa 1550β1069 BC

These two wooden Ka statues depict the brothers Nebreshy and Amenhotep. Both figures are shown with shaven heads and dressed in intricately pleated linen kilts.

The bases of the statues bear hieroglyphic inscriptions containing a funerary formula addressed to Osiris, the god of the Underworld, offered on behalf of the brothersβ parents.
