Trump unleashed a massive post against Pope Leo XIV on Truth Social. He called him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy.” He said he doesn’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have nuclear weapons or who criticizes the U.S. for attacking Venezuela. He then declared he prefers the Pope’s brother Louis “because he’s all MAGA.”

But he didn’t stop there. Trump claimed that if he weren’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. According to him, the Church chose an American Pope just to “deal with” his administration. He also attacked Leo for meeting with David Axelrod, Obama’s former strategist, calling him “a LOSER from the Left.”

The clash has been escalating for weeks. Pope Leo called the war on Iran “an unjust war” and labeled Trump’s threat to destroy “a whole civilization” as “truly unacceptable.” He urged citizens to contact their representatives and demand peace. In response, the Pentagon summoned a Vatican diplomat and warned that the U.S. military can do “whatever it wants” and the Pope “better take our side.”
