CHINA BACKS THE REOPENING OF THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ AND REAFFIRMS: THE WORLD NEEDS PEACE AND PROGRESS, NOT WARS nt

After Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared the Strait of Hormuz completely open to commercial vessels, Beijing reaffirms its commitment to de-escalation and dialogue as the only possible paths for the region.

The Chinese government’s line has been consistent since the war began. President Xi Jinping made it clear days ago: “We must oppose the law of the jungle and, together, defend genuine multilateralism and protect global peace and development”.

Beijing played a key role pressing for the strait’s reopening. Minister Wang Yi urged Tehran to guarantee freedom and safety of navigation, stressing that the corridor is vital for global trade and stability.

China’s position carries enormous weight: it is the main buyer of Iranian oil, and more than 20% of the world’s crude crosses this corridor. Its approach aligns with the four-point initiative Xi recently presented for peace in the Middle East.
While Washington maintains its blockade on Iranian ports, China insists that the only sustainable way forward is a comprehensive ceasefire, respect for sovereignty, and international cooperation. Its message to the world is unmistakable: the future is built through progress, not through war.
