Teen Survivor Dilynn Turner Returns Home After 5-Month Fight for Recovery Following Traumatic Brain Injury

In a deeply emotional milestone marked by gratitude, reflection, and hope, Good Hope High School junior Dilynn Turner is finally returning home to Alabama after spending five months receiving intensive care and rehabilitation at Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Dilynn’s journey began on January 2nd, 2026, when she was involved in a severe car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. What followed was a long and uncertain medical battle that required emergency response, hospital transfers, critical care treatment, and months of rehabilitation support.

Now, after enduring one of the most challenging periods of her young life, Dilynn is leaving Shepherd Center to continue her recovery closer to home. While this transition marks significant progress, her recovery journey is still ongoing and will require continued rehabilitation and care in Alabama.

For her mother, Jessica Methvin, this moment is both joyful and emotional. Having stayed by her daughter’s side throughout the entire five-month ordeal, she described the experience as life-changing, highlighting both the pain of the journey and the gratitude she feels toward those who supported them along the way.

In a heartfelt message, Jessica expressed deep appreciation for the many individuals who played a role in Dilynn’s survival and progress. She thanked the woman who discovered Dilynn at the scene of the accident and immediately called for help, as well as emergency responders from Cullman EMS who transported her quickly to medical care.

She also acknowledged the critical work of the trauma and intensive care teams at Huntsville Hospital, the Shepherd Center staff, and the other families they met during the long months of treatment. These shared experiences, she said, created a sense of community during one of the most difficult times of her life.

Jessica also extended her gratitude to the countless friends, relatives, and supporters who visited, provided encouragement, and continuously prayed for Dilynn’s recovery. She described the global outpouring of support as overwhelming and deeply meaningful.

“This journey is far from over, but this still feels like a huge milestone,” she wrote, reflecting on the long road ahead while recognizing how far her daughter has already come.
