Kenyan Hero Anthony Omari Risks Life to Protect Orphanage from Intruders

Caretaker confronts armed thieves with a hammer, saves 37 children at Faraja Children’s Home
NGONG, Kenya — Anthony Omari has become known as a hero in Kenya after he bravely confronted intruders breaking into the Faraja Children’s Home, protecting 37 vulnerable children inside.
Omari, who helped run the orphanage alongside Martha Bosire, sprang into action when thieves attempted to break in. Armed with only a hammer, he fought off the intruders, successfully driving them away from the property. During the confrontation, he sustained injuries, including a deep facial wound that required stitches and hospital treatment.
The inspiring story gained worldwide attention after it was shared on Reddit, prompting an outpouring of support. Thousands of donors from around the world contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the orphanage. The funds were used to strengthen security, install better fencing, and provide essential supplies for the children.
Despite his injuries, Omari continued his dedicated work at the Faraja Children’s Home and later pursued further education.
