New York Family Accused of Torturing 7-Year-Old Girl to Death While Falsely Claiming Disney World Trip

New York — A 7-year-old girl suffered months of horrific abuse at the hands of family members who allegedly lied to her school about taking her on a trip to Disney World, authorities said.
Jor’Dynn Duncan died after enduring what prosecutors described as “sadistic abuse,” including nearly 90 separate injuries and a massive untreated infection that ultimately claimed her life.
According to police and court documents, the girl’s family told school officials she would be absent because they were going on a family vacation to Disney World. Instead, authorities allege Jor’Dynn was kept at home and subjected to prolonged torture and neglect.
Emily Kelly, 50, Barbara Renner, 75, and Elyssa Seymore, 24, have all been arrested in connection with the child’s death. Each faces multiple felony charges, including murder and child endangerment.
Investigators say the extent of Jor’Dynn’s injuries pointed to months of severe physical abuse. The young girl, seen smiling in photos holding a stuffed bunny, was reportedly isolated from the outside world while suffering in silence.
The case has shocked the local community and prompted renewed calls for stricter oversight of homeschooling and absenteeism reporting in schools. Child welfare advocates say the tragedy highlights failures in the system that allowed a vulnerable child to fall through the cracks for an extended period.
All three suspects are currently in custody. Prosecutors say they intend to pursue the maximum penalties available under New York law.
This is an ongoing investigation. Court proceedings are expected to provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding Jor’Dynn Duncan’s tragic death in the coming weeks.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this heartbreaking case.
