LA Father Faces Murder Charge After Fleeing to Mexico with 5-Year-Old Daughter

A cross-border manhunt is underway after a Los Angeles man allegedly killed his girlfriend and abducted their young daughter, sparking an Amber Alert and international search.
The Tragedy in West Adams
Ruben Fregoso, 40, is wanted for the murder of Marysol Garcia, the mother of his 5-year-old daughter Daleza Fregoso. Authorities say the killing occurred at the family’s home in the Arlington Heights/West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles.
After the alleged murder, Fregoso fled with the child in a white 2019 Land Rover Discovery. An Amber Alert was quickly issued for Daleza’s safe return.
Fled Toward Mexico Border
Surveillance footage from a parking garage in San Ysidro (near the U.S.-Mexico border) shows Fregoso with his daughter on Sunday morning. His vehicle was later located near the border, leading investigators to believe the pair may have crossed into Mexico.
LAPD officials have described Fregoso as armed and dangerous. Mexican authorities are assisting in the search, and officials say Fregoso will be extradited if captured.
Community Mourning
Heartbreaking images from the scene show family members and friends gathering with flowers, visibly distraught over the loss of Marysol Garcia. The young girl Daleza is also shown in photos circulating as authorities plead for the public’s help in bringing her home safely.
As of now, Daleza Fregoso’s whereabouts remain unknown, though authorities remain hopeful she will be found unharmed.
This case has shocked the Los Angeles community, with many expressing concern for the child’s safety while mourning the death of her mother. Anyone with information is urged to contact the LAPD immediately.
