Jose Rodriguez, a 22-year-old expectant father, was fatally shot on May 3, 2019, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after using his body to shield his pregnant girlfriend from a hail of bullets.

According to reports, Rodriguez instinctively threw himself over Lexi Rivera as gunfire erupted from a nearby SUV during a targeted attack. He was struck multiple times and died at the scene.

His heroic actions saved both Rivera and their unborn son. Rivera sustained only minor injuries, and the baby was unharmed.

The shooter was later identified as Victor Cintron Jr., Rivera’s ex-boyfriend and the biological father of the child. Cintron was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide and sentenced to life in prison.
