Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to Up to 50 Years for Role in Fatal Beating of Girlfriend’s 18-Month-Old Daughter

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania — A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison for his involvement in the brutal beating death of his girlfriend’s 18-month-old daughter, authorities said.
Maurice Davis was convicted for his role in the fatal assault on the toddler, who suffered severe internal bleeding and visible knuckle-shaped bruises after being repeatedly struck, according to investigators.
Davis carried out the abuse alongside the child’s mother, Kandie Meinhart. Prosecutors described Meinhart as the primary abuser in the case. She is already serving a sentence of up to 60 years in prison.
Following the child’s death, Meinhart allegedly made a chilling phone call to the toddler’s biological father, coldly taunting him about the killing, police said.

The horrific case has drawn widespread outrage as details of the repeated abuse and the mother’s disturbing post-crime behavior emerged. Court documents revealed the toddler endured significant trauma in the moments leading up to her death.
Davis was sentenced on charges including murder and related offenses. The judge handed down the maximum allowable sentence under the plea agreement, citing the brutal nature of the crime against a defenseless child.
Child advocacy groups have called the case a tragic reminder of the need for stronger protections for vulnerable children in abusive households. Both Davis and Meinhart remain behind bars.
