UGLEGORSK, Russia — A remarkable story of survival and loyalty has emerged from Russia after a 10-year-old girl was found alive following a harrowing night lost in a freezing snowstorm — thanks to the unwavering companionship of a stray dog.

The young girl disappeared while walking home from school in Uglegorsk as a severe blizzard engulfed the area, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerously low temperatures.
