Iowa Dad Screamed Chilling Message About Death and Money Before Killing 6 Relatives, Then Himself

MUSCATINE, Iowa — A 52-year-old Iowa man went on a horrific murder spree Monday, fatally shooting six family members before turning the gun on himself as police closed in.
Ryan Willis McFarland was heard yelling disturbing comments about “death and money” outside his home just minutes before the killings, according to witnesses and police.
Four victims were found shot dead inside McFarland’s home on Park Avenue. Two other relatives were later discovered shot at separate locations in the city — one on Mill Street and another at a business on Grandview Avenue.
Officers confronted McFarland on a nearby riverfront trail, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the encounter. Police described the massacre as an “act of evil” stemming from a domestic dispute.
The shocking incident has left the small community of 24,000 in mourning and disbelief. No further threat to the public exists, authorities said.
