Michaela Rylaarsdam, a 32-year-old OnlyFans model and mother of three, was sentenced Monday to the maximum of four years in state prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2023 death of her client, Michael Dale.

The 55-year-old Escondido man died from asphyxiation during an extreme BDSM session at his home. Court records show Dale paid Rylaarsdam more than $11,000 for the encounter, during which he requested to be wrapped “like a mummy” in Saran Wrap, have women’s boots glued to his feet, and participate in other fetish acts.

According to prosecutors, Rylaarsdam placed a plastic bag over Dale’s head and secured it with duct tape over his mouth and face. She then left him without air for at least eight minutes while filming content for her OnlyFans platform. Dale was unable to breathe and ultimately suffocated.

The judge described Rylaarsdam’s actions as recklessly disregarding human life. In court, Rylaarsdam expressed remorse for the incident.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the extreme nature of the paid session and the circumstances surrounding Dale’s death. Rylaarsdam will serve her sentence in state prison.
