16-Year-Old Hero Jumps Into Alligator-Infested River to Rescue Three Girls and Struggling Police Officer

MOSS POINT, Miss. — A 16-year-old high school football player is being hailed as a hero after he fearlessly dove into the pitch-black, alligator-infested waters of the Pascagoula River to save three teenage girls whose car plunged off a boat ramp — and then helped rescue a struggling police officer, saving four lives in total.
The dramatic incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. on a July morning near the Interstate 10 boat launch in Moss Point, Mississippi. According to reports, the three girls were following a faulty GPS direction when their vehicle accidentally drove straight off the boat ramp and into the deep river. The car floated approximately 25 yards from the bank before rapidly beginning to sink.
As the panicked girls escaped through the windows and climbed onto the roof, screaming for help, Corion Evans — who was nearby — didn’t hesitate. The quick-thinking teen stripped off his shirt and shoes, tossed aside his phone, and dove into the dark water.
A powerful swimmer since the age of three, Evans successfully guided the first two girls back to the shoreline. He then returned for the third girl as emergency responders arrived.
In the chaotic rescue, one police officer who entered the water to assist also began struggling. Evans sprang into action once again, helping the officer and ensuring everyone reached safety.

Thanks to the brave teenager’s efforts, all three girls and the officer survived the terrifying ordeal with no loss of life.
