Home Invasion Ends in Tragedy: Mississippi Woman Fatally Shoots Masked 15-Year-Old Intruder

JACKSON, Miss. — A quiet night turned deadly early Wednesday morning when a woman opened fire on two masked intruders attempting to break into her apartment, killing a 15-year-old boy and prompting the arrest of his 18-year-old accomplice.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when two masked suspects approached the apartment. One allegedly covered the Ring doorbell camera while the other forced entry. The woman inside, fearing for her life, grabbed a handgun and fired, striking one of the intruders.

Fifteen-year-old Kaden Young was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The second suspect, 18-year-old Quintavion Myles, fled but was later apprehended by authorities.

The woman was questioned by police and released. Investigators indicated the case may be protected under Mississippi’s Castle Doctrine, which allows homeowners to use deadly force to defend themselves against unlawful intrusion.

This tragic confrontation has left the community divided. While many support the woman’s right to protect herself in her own home, others are mourning the death of a teenager involved in the break-in.

Authorities have not released the name of the woman, citing her status as a potential victim exercising self-defense. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attempted home invasion.

This incident highlights the serious dangers of home invasions and the split-second decisions faced by those confronted with sudden violence in their own homes.
