Massachusetts Mom Lindsay Clancy Accused of Strangling Her Three Young Children in Duxbury Home

Duxbury, Massachusetts – Lindsay Clancy, a 35-year-old former labor and delivery nurse, faces multiple murder charges in the heartbreaking deaths of her three young children in January 2023. Prosecutors allege she strangled her daughter Cora, 5, son Dawson, 3, and infant son Callan (also referred to as Kellen in some reports), using exercise bands inside the family’s home at 47 Summer Street.
On the day of the tragedy, Clancy reportedly spent time with her children — including building a snowman — before her husband Patrick left to pick up takeout. While he was gone, she allegedly carried out the killings and then jumped from a second-floor window in an apparent suicide attempt, resulting in severe injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down. Patrick returned home to discover the devastating scene.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty. Her defense team argues she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and other mental health issues at the time, claiming she was not criminally responsible. She has offered to stipulate in writing that she caused the children’s deaths, aiming to focus the upcoming trial on her mental state rather than graphic details of the acts.
The case has drawn intense national attention as a tragic example of postpartum mental health struggles. Clancy remains at Tewksbury State Hospital. Her trial is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with status conferences ongoing. The prosecution maintains the actions were deliberate and premeditated.
The family home, once a picture of suburban life, has since been sold. Patrick Clancy has moved forward while grieving the unimaginable loss of his children. The case continues to spark discussions about maternal mental health, postpartum care, and the justice system’s handling of insanity defenses in such profound tragedies.
