Arizona Police Officer Indicted After Disturbing Footage Shows Her Assaulting 9-Months-Pregnant Woman in Handcuffs

BUCKEYE, Arizona — Newly released surveillance footage has sparked outrage after it captured a female Arizona police officer aggressively handling a 9-months-pregnant woman who was already in handcuffs at a booking facility.
The incident, which occurred in November 2025, has led to a grand jury indictment and the officer’s removal from the force.
In the disturbing video, Officer Carri Carrico is seen shoving the 21-year-old victim into a wall and dragging her toward a bench inside the Buckeye facility. Carrico’s body camera footage further revealed her verbally abusing the pregnant woman, repeatedly calling her “gross,” “nasty,” and “an a—.”
The confrontation took place while the victim was already restrained in handcuffs, raising serious questions about the use of force against a vulnerable detainee.

Authorities confirmed that the grand jury’s indictment has resulted in Carrico’s termination from the police department. The case has drawn widespread condemnation from community leaders and advocates, who described the officer’s actions as excessive and unprofessional.
The victim, who was nine months pregnant at the time, was reportedly taken into custody for reasons that have not been fully disclosed. No serious physical injuries to the unborn child or the mother have been publicly reported, but the emotional and psychological impact remains a significant concern.
The Buckeye Police Department has not issued a detailed statement beyond confirming the officer’s departure and the ongoing legal proceedings. The case is expected to proceed through the courts, with the released footage likely to play a central role in any trial.
This incident adds to growing scrutiny of law enforcement conduct, particularly regarding the treatment of pregnant women and vulnerable individuals in custody. Civil rights groups have called for a thorough investigation and stronger protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
