Alligator That Fatally Mauled Florida Hiker Brittany Clark Identified by Bite Marks on Her Arm

FLORIDA — The alligator responsible for the fatal attack on hiker Brittany Clark has been identified through forensic analysis of bite marks left on her arm, according to a preliminary report from the Orange County medical examiner.
Clark, 31, was hiking with her boyfriend Chance Allison and friends in the Little Big Econ State Forest when the group stopped to swim with their dogs in the Econlockhatchee River. The tragic encounter occurred during what was meant to be a relaxing outdoor activity.

The medical examiner noted that “a row of teeth on the gator head is consistent with teeth marks on the left arm.” The disturbing details have emerged as authorities and experts work to understand the circumstances of the attack.
Clark’s loved ones, seen in happier times with friends and enjoying the water, are mourning her loss. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife in Florida’s natural areas.
The alligator involved was captured and euthanized following the attack.
