Redacted Heartfelt Letter from Tyler Robinson to Trans Lover Accidentally Shown in Court

A handwritten letter from Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was briefly and accidentally displayed in court during his preliminary hearing, revealing emotional content addressed to his trans partner.

The note, which Robinson allegedly left hidden under his computer keyboard for his roommate and lover Lance Twiggs, 22, to find, appears to confess to the shooting. Key excerpts read: “If you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission… I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it. I don’t know if I will/have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you.”

The letter surfaced during Thursday’s proceedings in Utah’s Fourth District Court as prosecutors presented evidence. Judge Tony Graf immediately ordered it removed from the broadcast feed after noticing it was visible, reminding parties of restrictions on showing direct images of the document.

Robinson and Twiggs reportedly developed a romantic relationship after becoming roommates in St. George, Utah. Twiggs has provided testimony and video statements to investigators detailing their interactions following the September 2025 shooting at Utah Valley University.

Prosecutors have also introduced text messages from Robinson to Twiggs that appear to boast about the rifle used in the attack. Robinson faces the death penalty if convicted. The preliminary hearing, now in its later stages, will determine whether the case proceeds to trial. Robinson has not yet entered a formal plea.

The incident has drawn significant attention amid ongoing public interest in the high-profile case.
