Mother Sheila Agee Convicted for Aiding Son Keith Agee in Fatal Shooting of Brooklyn Sims at Pensacola Home Depot

Pensacola, Florida — In a case that has shocked the community, Sheila Agee, 52, was convicted of principal to first-degree premeditated murder for her alleged role in helping her son, Keith Agee, murder 18-year-old Brooklyn Sims, the mother of his child, inside a Home Depot store on August 11, 2023. Keith Agee, then 20, walked into the store where Sims worked as a contract inventory counter and shot her. He was previously convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole.
Prosecutors presented evidence, including text messages, showing Sheila Agee allegedly encouraged her son, provided Sims’ exact work location inside the store (where she had even given her a ride that day), and instructed him to delete messages afterward. The motive reportedly stemmed from Keith’s belief that Sims had given him a sexually transmitted disease, though evidence at trial indicated Sims had tested negative.
Sims, a young mother, kissed her 2-year-old daughter goodbye before heading to work that day and never returned. The shooting left her daughter without her mother and devastated multiple families.
During Sheila Agee’s trial, Keith testified, and both mother and son maintained aspects of a defense, but the jury convicted Sheila after deliberating. She received a mandatory life sentence without parole.
The case has also led to a wrongful death lawsuit against Home Depot by Sims’ family. It underscores issues of domestic violence, family involvement in crime, and the lasting impact on children.
