Nolan Wells’ Parents Say They Don’t Know Key Witness Tracestin Shepherd in Ongoing Mystery Surrounding Son’s Death

The parents of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, who died after a boat trip to Horn Island on July 4, have publicly stated they have never met Tracestin Shepherd — the young man who has spoken extensively in the media as a “childhood friend” of their son.
Christine and Elmore Wonsley, represented by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, expressed skepticism about Shepherd’s account of events leading up to Nolan’s death. Shepherd claimed the group did “no wrong” and that Nolan chose to stay behind on the island after meeting a young woman.

The family disputes the narrative, particularly the idea that Nolan would voluntarily remain on an isolated island without his cellphone. They continue to seek answers about the circumstances of their son’s death.
The case remains under investigation, with many questions still unanswered about what happened on Horn Island that night.
