ANOTHER AUTISTIC BABY HAS BEEN FOUND… AND THIS ONE DIDN’T MAKE IT HOME. nt

Five-year-old Carter Atkinson, a non-verbal autistic little boy from Thomas County, Georgia, has tragically been found deceased after an overnight search.
Carter disappeared from his grandfather’s home on Mockingbird Lane on Saturday. For nearly 10 hours, deputies, K-9 teams, first responders, and countless community volunteers searched through the night, hoping for a miracle.
Instead…
Just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, a tracking K-9 located Carter in a wooded area about a mile from the home.
Sheriff Tim Watkins said there is no indication of foul play at this time, and investigators believe Carter may have succumbed to the elements. The investigation remains ongoing.

As an autism mom myself, stories like this hit differently. Every time I see another autistic child wander, I think about how quickly a normal afternoon can turn into every parent’s worst nightmare.
Please keep Carter’s family, friends, and everyone who searched for him in your prayers today. No family should have to experience this kind of heartbreak.
