ILLINOIS: 25-YEAR-OLD MAN SENTENCED TO 60 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER KILLING HIS 22-YEAR-OLD PREGNANT EX-GIRLFRIEND, WHO WAS EIGHT MONTHS ALONG
On June 9, 2022, Liese Dodd, 22, who was about eight months pregnant and preparing to welcome a baby girl, was found dead inside her apartment in Alton, Illinois.
Her former boyfriend, Deundrea Holloway, was accused in the killing. According to prosecutors, their relationship had ended and Liese did not want to continue it. Authorities said that rejection was part of the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack that took the lives of both Liese and her unborn child.
After more than two years of court proceedings and competency evaluations, Holloway pleaded guilty on January 17, 2025, to charges including first-degree murder, intentional homicide of an unborn child, and concealment of a homicidal death.
A Madison County judge sentenced him to 60 years in prison, bringing the criminal case to a close while leaving Liese’s family with a loss that can never be undone.
Liese should have had the chance to meet her daughter and begin a new chapter of life. May she and her unborn baby be remembered with love, and may their family find strength through this heartbreaking loss.
