Thirty-seven seizures in just 12 hours.

Thirty-seven seizures in just 12 hours.
Now a 10-year-old girl is facing brain surgery in four days, and her mom is packing a bag in case they have to make an emergency six-hour drive to the hospital before then.
Her name is Kaylie, and her mom, Tammy Hammond, reached out to me because she has watched thousands of you pray for children here before on my page.
Today, she desperately wants those prayers for her daughter.
Kaylie has lived with significant medical challenges since birth, including epilepsy, hydrocephalus and a PIK3CA gene mutation.
Because children with PIK3CA-related conditions can be monitored for tumors, Tammy says Kaylie previously underwent regular imaging.
An October 2023 MRI showed something doctors initially believed could be a glitch, and as Kaylie grew older, those scans became less frequent.
But her mom couldn’t shake the feeling that they should look again.
Tammy requested another MRI earlier this year.

When Kaylie finally had it in June, her mom says it revealed a tumor in her cerebellum.
Brain surgery is scheduled for Monday, August 24th, to remove it.
But now there is a frightening new concern about simply getting Kaylie safely to surgery.
Tammy tells me her daughter’s seizures have intensified this week, and today has been the worst.
Thirty-seven seizures in 12 hours.
Her medication has been given, and Tammy is waiting desperately for it to take effect.
At the same time, she’s packing their bags because Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is roughly six hours away, and if the seizures don’t stop, she says they’re going.
I keep looking at Kaylie’s picture and thinking about everything this little girl has already endured in ten years, and now her family has to watch the clock while wondering whether medication will work or they’ll need to race toward the hospital that is supposed to operate on her brain just days from now.
Tammy told me something else that explains why she reached out:
“I’ve seen so many on your page praying for those who need it and right now Kaylie really needs them.”
So let’s give this mom exactly what she asked for.
Please pray that Kaylie’s seizures settle and her body gets some desperately needed rest.
Pray that she makes it safely through the next few days and that Monday’s brain surgery is successful.
Pray for the surgeons who will operate on her and for Tammy as she carries the fear that comes with watching your child endure something you cannot endure for them.
Thirty-seven seizures in 12 hours is terrifying.
But this family doesn’t want fear to have the final word.
