Five brain surgeries in barely a week.
Some lasting as long as nine hours.
And now, 6-year-old Braxton still cannot talk and can barely move his body.
His family is begging people to help them fight for him.
What began as a regular doctor’s appointment less than two weeks ago has turned into the kind of nightmare no parent expects.
Doctors discovered a tumor on Braxton’s brain stem.
Then everything started moving frighteningly fast.
Surgery.
Another surgery.
Then another.
His family says Braxton has now endured five brain surgeries in roughly a week and a half as doctors worked to remove as much of the tumor as they safely could.
Then came another devastating blow.
His family says testing determined the tumor is an aggressive form of cancer.
Braxton is now facing chemotherapy and radiation.
And after everything his little body has already endured, a family member shared an update that puts into perspective just how serious his condition remains:
“Braxton still is unable to talk, or move his body much.”
But she also wrote something his family desperately wants people to hear:
“He is such a fighter, but in this fight, I need everyone fighting with him.”
Braxton’s dad, Shon Singleton, has been beside his little boy through a stretch of days no father should have to experience.
Ashley says there are no words that can take away her cousin’s fear and no simple way for someone else to step in and fix this.
So she’s asking for the one thing she believes people CAN do.
Pray.
“I beg you all to pray for Braxton.”
And there is another milestone approaching that makes all of this hurt a little more.
Braxton has a birthday coming up in just a few weeks.
So today, let’s do what his family is asking.
Please say a prayer for Braxton.
Pray that his brain and body heal from these surgeries.
Pray that his speech and movement return.
Pray that chemotherapy and radiation destroy this cancer.
And pray for his family as they stand beside this little boy wondering what the next scan, treatment or day will bring.
