𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲?

Lately, I’ve seen posts using Dolly Parton’s generosity as a reason to take shots at Taylor Swift for being a billionaire.

But why does celebrating one extraordinary woman have to come at the expense of another?

Taylor’s wealth includes the value of the music and intellectual property she owns and created. And beyond that, she has a long record of charitable giving and generosity toward the people who work with her.

Dolly’s generosity is extraordinary and absolutely deserves to be celebrated.

But it doesn’t need to be turned into a weapon against Taylor.

What makes the comparison even more unnecessary is that Dolly and Taylor have openly expressed affection and admiration for each other over the years.

Dolly once said, “I’m crazy about Taylor.”

That says enough.

Two successful women can be wealthy, talented, generous, and admired without having to compete over who is more deserving.

Being rich does not automatically make someone selfish.

Giving money away does not automatically make someone better.

And honoring Dolly should never require tearing Taylor down.

Dolly spent her life lifting people up.

So perhaps the best way to honor her is to do the same.

Let’s celebrate generous women without pitting them against one another.

Let’s celebrate their art, their hard work, their kindness, and the ways they use their success to help others.

Rich women are not the problem.

Women tearing other women down is.

If Dolly taught us anything, it was that there is room for everyone to shine.
