A Billionaire Threw a Homeless Woman Out of His Hotel—Then His Mother Recognized Her
PART 1 — THE WOMAN IN THE RAIN
“Get this woman out of my hotel. She’s scaring the guests!”
Billionaire hotel owner Ethan Black pointed toward a 70-year-old woman standing in the marble lobby.
Her coat was soaked. Her shoes were worn. She was holding a little plastic bag.
“Please, sir,” she said softly. “I only need somewhere warm for a few minutes.”
Ethan frowned.
“This is a five-star hotel, not a shelter.”
Security approached.
The woman lowered her eyes.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause trouble.”
Just as the guard reached for the door, an elegant elderly woman stepped out of the elevator.
“Ethan! What is happening here?”
“Mother, this woman refuses to leave.”
His mother looked toward the stranger.
Her handbag slipped from her fingers.
“Oh my God…” she whispered.
The homeless woman lifted her head.
“Is that you, Catherine?”
Ethan stared at them.
“Mother? You know her?”
Catherine began crying.
“Know her? Ethan, thirty-five years ago, when your father lost everything…”
She grabbed the woman’s trembling hands.
“…this woman gave us the money that saved our lives.”
Then she turned to her son with a terrible question.
“Do you know who paid for the first hotel your father ever owned?”
