The Rancher’s Son Abandoned His Pregnant Wife—Then She Bought His Father’s Ranch
PART 1 — THE WOMAN HE THOUGHT HAD NOTHING
“You’re pregnant, broke, and you have nowhere to go. What are you going to do without me?”
My husband laughed as he loaded his suitcase into his new girlfriend’s truck.
I was six months pregnant.
And after five years of marriage, he’d decided I was no longer good enough for him.
His father owned a massive Texas cattle ranch, and my husband believed that made him untouchable.
“Please, Tyler,” I whispered. “Our baby needs you.”
He shrugged.
“Then find someone else to help you.”
He drove away.
Three weeks later, I received a phone call from a local attorney.
“Mrs. Hayes, are you still interested in purchasing agricultural property?”
I sat up.
“Yes. Why?”
“There’s a ranch going through a private foreclosure settlement. The bank is accepting qualified buyers.”
He gave me the address.
My hands started trembling.
It was my father-in-law’s ranch.
My grandfather had left me money years earlier, and I’d kept it in a separate trust.
Tyler had never known.
I asked the attorney one question.
“Can the purchase be completed without the current owner’s son knowing?”
The attorney paused.
“Yes, ma’am. But you’ll need to sign tomorrow.”
