Olivia’s Story

My name is Olivia, and I just learned I have stage 4 liver cancer.

The words still feel unreal, like they belong to someone else’s life. One ordinary morning I was planning my daughter’s birthday party, thinking about summer plans and next year’s goals. By afternoon, everything had shattered. The doctor’s voice was gentle but honest, and in that moment the world went quiet. Stage 4. The number hit like a wave I couldn’t outrun.

I wasn’t prepared. No one ever truly is.

Fear moved in fast, heavy and cold. The questions came without mercy: How much time? Will my children be okay? How do I keep being their mom when my body is failing me? Some nights I lie awake staring at the ceiling, tears falling silently so I don’t wake my husband. Other nights I hold my family close, breathing them in like they are my medicine.

But even in this storm, something deeper is rising.

I am choosing to fight. Not because I’m fearless, but because love is stronger than fear. I fight for every sunrise I can still see, for every laugh I can still share with my kids, for every moment that still belongs to us. I fight for all the others walking this same painful road—the mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who hear the same terrifying words every single day.

I’m asking for prayer. Not just for me, but for every person battling this devastating disease. For the families trying their hardest to stay strong when their hearts are breaking. For the exhausted caregivers who keep showing up even when they’re running on empty. For the fragile hope that needs to be held gently.

Faith doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. It means I don’t have to walk it alone.

If you believe in the power of prayer, please pause right now. Say my name to God. Lift up every soul fighting cancer tonight. Stand with us in faith, hope, and love.

Prayer still moves mountains. Hope still shines, even in the darkest places.

I may be tired, but I am not done. My story isn’t over yet. With every heartbeat, I’m choosing to believe that God is still writing the next chapter—one of healing, strength, and unexpected grace.
