For two long years, his world was nothing but darkness and loneliness.

Born with a painful eye condition, this gentle Great Dane had both eyes surgically removed as a puppy. He spent most of his young life inside a shelter kennel — waiting, hoping, listening to footsteps that always passed him by. People saw his large size and sightless eyes and kept walking.

Until one ordinary day changed everything.

A woman was walking her tiny Chihuahua near the shelter when the little dog suddenly broke free. She darted straight through the kennels and stopped right in front of the blind Great Dane’s cage, refusing to leave. Workers chased her, but the Chihuahua had made her choice.
