A Life-or-Death Emergency in Remote Alaska

Late one night in 2020, a medical emergency struck a small village in Alaska. A child urgently needed to be flown to a hospital in Anchorage, nearly 280 miles away. An emergency medical plane was dispatched, but when it arrived, the remote airstrip’s runway lights had suddenly failed, leaving the landing strip in complete darkness.

With time running out and the child’s condition critical, the situation looked dire.
