Florida Influencer Born Without Right Hand Ticketed for ‘Holding Phone in Right Hand’ While Driving

Florida — A social media influencer and adaptive athlete who was born without a right hand was stunned after being pulled over and ticketed by police for allegedly holding a cellphone in her “right hand” while driving.

Katie, who has built a following by sharing her journey as an amputee, was stopped by a deputy who claimed he witnessed her using a handheld device behind the wheel.

During the traffic stop, Katie reportedly lifted her right arm — which ends shortly after the elbow — to show the officer there was no hand. Despite the obvious, she says the deputy still issued her a ticket. She was even asked to raise her “right hand” to swear an oath, adding to the absurdity of the situation.

Katie later posted the body camera footage of the encounter online, where it quickly went viral. Millions viewed the clip showing the bizarre interaction.

Rather than simply paying the fine, Katie decided to fight the citation in court. She pleaded not guilty and prepared for trial.

However, just one day before the scheduled court date, the deputy requested the ticket be dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The citation was officially dropped.

The story has sparked widespread discussion online, with many praising Katie for standing her ground and highlighting the importance of questioning unfair enforcement. Katie continues to use her platform to advocate for awareness and adaptability.
