Stepbrother Allegedly Raped and Killed Sister on Cruise Ship, Roamed Freely Afterward: Prosecutors

MIAMI — Disturbing new details have emerged in the case of Anna Kepner, 18, who was allegedly raped and strangled by her 16-year-old stepbrother Timothy Hudson aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on November 7, 2025.

According to an unsealed transcript from Hudson’s February bond hearing, Kepner returned to their shared cabin shortly after 7:30 p.m. Prosecutors say Hudson assaulted and killed her. He then left the cabin multiple times, checked the area, and placed a “Privacy” sign on the door.

Around midnight, Kepner’s 13-year-old brother returned and slept in the room, unaware her body was hidden under the bed. The next morning, Hudson allegedly walked the ship using her phone, smoked, and went jogging before disposing of the device.

A crew member discovered Kepner’s body wrapped in a blanket under the bed just before 11:30 a.m. The medical examiner ruled her death as strangulation with evidence of sexual assault.

Hudson has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse. He has pleaded not guilty and remains out of custody under restrictions pending trial.
