France Seizes Russian-Linked Oil Tanker in the Atlantic

In a notable operation, the French Navy, with support from the UK and other partners, intercepted and boarded the oil tanker Tagor in international waters in the Atlantic Ocean. The vessel was suspected of being part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” — ships allegedly used to transport oil while evading international sanctions related to the war in Ukraine.
The tanker, which had been sailing under a Cameroonian flag, was diverted toward France. French President Emmanuel Macron stated that such actions aim to prevent vessels from circumventing sanctions and funding the ongoing conflict. The Kremlin has described the move as “international piracy.”
This is reported as one of several similar interceptions by France in recent months. The incident highlights growing international efforts to enforce sanctions on Russia’s oil trade
