Five-year-old Grayson O’Connor should have had countless memories still waiting to be made.

Detectives say surveillance video shows the boy fell from his apartment.
His body was discovered in an alley behind that building.
Detectives are calling it a “suspicious death” and Grayson’s mother is the person of interest in the case.
“I want this child to be honored. Even though he’s gone. He deserves any love from anybody,” Shaw said.
Shaw has planned the memorial for Saturday afternoon at 2 outside the Grand Boulevard Lofts, 1006 Grand, where Grayson lived and died.
She says the boy’s short and troubled life reminds her of her own childhood.
Shaw was raised by her grandmother.
“I didn’t have a mother or a father. And to this day, I’m still strong,” she said.
Shaw wants people to bring beanie babies, toy firetrucks and dinosaurs, bubbles, flowers, and green and white balloons.
“This boy deserves to be honored and I want to make sure that is he’s remembered by everybody in this community. He’s a child. Every child deserves love,” she said.
Shaw says once the memorial is finished, she plans to take the toys to a shelter or foster home so other children can play with them.
In addition to Shaw’s event, Grayson’s name will read honoring the dead as part of the regular mass at the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception at 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
A prayer gathering for Grayson at the Cathedral will follow that service at 3:30.
The church is located at 416 West 12th Street in Kansas City.
