Morrow was rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham but succumbed to his injuries. Before he passed, he looked at his wife and delivered his heartbreaking final words: “Kayla, I’m dying and I love you.”

Kayla Morrow later shared on Facebook that she remains “completely numb,” writing: “Every time I close my eyes all I can see is the scene happening.” The couple’s young son has lost his father in a sudden and senseless act of violence.

Sumiton Police arrested Crawford in connection with the shooting, and he faces murder charges. Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation.
