UPDATE: Multiple Arrests Made in Brutal Waialee Beach Assault on Oahu’s North Shore

Waialee Beach, Oahu — A violent group assault at Waialee Beach, commonly known as “Dead Man’s Curve,” on May 30 has led to several arrests as the investigation continues, according to Honolulu police.
The incident occurred when a 15-year-old boy was attacked by a group of individuals. Kekoa Tamale, a 23-year-old North Shore lifeguard, bravely intervened to protect the teenager and was severely beaten in the process. Both victims suffered serious injuries, including broken bones, concussions, and other trauma, but they are now recovering at home under medical care.

Honolulu Police Department officials report significant progress in the case. Several suspects have been identified, charged, and arrested, with additional individuals turning themselves in as the investigation advances. Multiple juveniles have already faced charges in Family Court, including petitions for Attempted Assault in the First Degree, with some also facing second-degree charges.
The North Shore community has rallied in strong support of the victims, widely praising lifeguard Kekoa Tamale’s heroism for stepping in despite the danger to himself. Many have described his actions as potentially life-saving for the young boy.
Authorities continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information to come forward. The case remains active as police work to hold all responsible parties accountable.
