South Carolina Personal Trainer Goes Missing as Police Call Disappearance ‘Out of Character’

LEXINGTON, South Carolina — Authorities are searching for a 39-year-old personal trainer who vanished last week after leaving a Planet Fitness gym, with police describing her disappearance as highly unusual for the active and socially engaged woman.

Elena Katherine Moore was last seen around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, after signing in at the Planet Fitness location in the 500 block of Whiteford Way in Lexington. Surveillance footage captured her leaving the gym and walking toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement store. She has not been heard from since.

Moore, who works as a personal trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center in Lexington, was reported missing the following day by her husband, Brannon Slice. Family and friends grew concerned after she failed to make contact, prompting an official search by local authorities.

“This is very out of character for her,” Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Silcox told ABC News. Police noted that Moore is typically very active on social media, making her sudden radio silence particularly alarming.

The community and local law enforcement have expressed significant concern, with searches ongoing in the area where she was last spotted. Moore is described as a dedicated fitness professional who regularly frequented the Planet Fitness gym.

As of the latest reports, no additional details about potential causes or circumstances have been released. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information about Moore’s whereabouts to contact the Lexington Police Department.

This developing story has drawn attention across South Carolina and beyond, with residents hoping for a safe return. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
