PAULDING COUNTY, Georgia — A family is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Sir Ethan Dupree Jones, who was shot and killed just weeks after graduating high school while attempting to buy a vape from a group of teenagers.

Jones, seen smiling brightly in his formal graduation photo wearing a tuxedo and bow tie, had recently completed his studies at Hiram High School and was excited to begin a career in welding. His life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence.

According to investigators, Jones met up with a group of teens to purchase a vape when the encounter turned deadly. Four teenagers have now been charged in connection with his death and will be tried as adults. Two of the suspects are believed to have fired the shots that killed Jones.

Mugshots of the four accused teens were released by authorities. Porch camera footage and license plate readers played a key role in helping deputies quickly identify and arrest the suspects.

Classmates of Jones expressed shock and heartbreak over the loss. “It’s just really shocking… it’s just really insane,” one said. Another added, “There’s a pain in my heart right now.” Many are struggling to comprehend how a simple transaction escalated into murder.

Jones’ family described the grief as “unimaginable” and hopes his death will serve as a powerful reminder that no argument is worth a life. “Their lives are ruined over a $30 vape,” one classmate lamented.
