Del Rio, Texas — Newly released video shows two sisters and their friend — charged with the broad-daylight murder of 32-year-old mother of five Caroline “Caro” Peña — smiling as police officers escort them in handcuffs following the shocking stabbing death in Del Rio.

Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, and her sister Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, along with their 21-year-old friend Kyandra Renee Faz, face murder charges in the June 25 attack that left Peña dead after being stabbed multiple times on a busy street near a Sonic drive-thru.

The footage, which has circulated widely, captures the young women displaying smiles as they are taken into custody, drawing widespread outrage online given the brutality of the alleged crime and the fact that Peña left behind five children.

Peña was rushed to a local hospital and then airlifted to San Antonio but succumbed to her injuries later that evening. Police said the attack occurred in broad daylight, prompting a swift investigation involving surveillance footage and witness statements that led to the arrests within hours.

Friends and family have mourned Peña as a devoted single mother and twin who was deeply involved in her children’s lives. “She was a great mom,” one friend told reporters, highlighting the community’s grief over the loss.
