Sisters Cookie, Kitty Diaz Accused of Brutally Stabbing Mom of 5, Then Laughing During Arrest

Two sisters and their friend allegedly stabbed a mother of five to death in broad daylight on a residential street in Texas.

Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, Amaya Cookie Diaz, 19, and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, according to a press release from the Del Rio Police Department, were each charged with murder in the death of Caroline “Caro” Peña.

Police responded to Val Verde Regional Medical Center on June 25 following a report that a woman had been admitted with stab wounds, according to the release. She was transported to a medical facility in San Antonio, where she died.

Friend Christina Salinas told KENS 5 that Carolina was stabbed in the side of her stomach and twice in the back, which punctured her lungs.

Later that day, after reviewing surveillance video and conducting witness interviews, Kitty, Cookie and Kyandra were arrested and booked into the GEO Correctional Facility.

In footage obtained by KENS 5, police escorted the handcuffed sisters into a patrol car, as one of them smiled.

“I saw the first girl going into the car, and I thought, ‘Whatever,’” journalist Michael Elizondo, who was on the scene, told the New York Post. “But the second one caught my eye. That girl was in a happy mood. She was all smiling, goofing off like nothing happened.”

He added, “All of the sudden I see the window go down, and the girl was sticking out her face, sticking out her tongue and goofing off.”

Meanwhile, according to the New York Post, footage showed a scantily clad Kitty in a black tank top and tight shorts grinning after the attack. Her sister allegedly giggled as she jokingly yelled at a cameraman, “Stop recording.”

A photo shared online reportedly showed Caroline covered in blood after the attack.

“Her hair was in the same bun. When I saw that, that’s all I needed to see was the back of her shirt. I knew it was her right off the bat,” Christina, who missed a call from her friend hours before the stabbing, told KENS 5. “That girl, she’s a fighter. She was still standing her ground.”
