Javeayah Harris case expands to Upstate as parents face child homicide charges

UNION COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The parents of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris have been charged with homicide by child abuse in connection with the death of their daughter, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. Both were denied bond.
The couple lived on Harris Street in Union County from 2024 into 2025, and court records show both parents were named in separate eviction cases during that time.
Mother also faces false report charge
The mother faces an additional charge of filing a false police report. Investigators say she called 911 on June 30 to report her daughter missing. Authorities say the story quickly unraveled.
Evidence indicates Javeayah had been dead for approximately one month before she was reported missing. According to arrest warrants, both parents later confessed.

Search extends into Upstate
The search for Javeayah’s body remains active. The investigation has expanded beyond Aiken County into parts of the Upstate. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting.
Neighbors along Harris Street said they did not see the family often. The search for Javeayah’s body is ongoing.
