Aiken County, South Carolina — Newly released dashcam and bodycam footage from the night of June 30 provides a chilling timeline of the moments after 4-year-old Javeayah Harris was falsely reported missing by her mother, Michilae Herring. The case has since been ruled a homicide, with disturbing new details emerging about the child’s death.

The footage, obtained exclusively by local news outlets, shows the initial law enforcement response to the 911 call. Deputies arrived at the family home on Hillsborough Street just before 8:50 p.m. and began searching the property with flashlights. Neighbors joined the effort as the search expanded into wooded areas and nearby roads after dark.

Javeayah’s father, Johmarea Harris, was captured arriving in a truck around 9:00 p.m. and speaking with deputies. The search continued late into the night, with a staging area set up at nearby Bethel Baptist Church.

Tragic Revelations

Authorities now believe Javeayah had been dead for at least a month before the 911 call. According to arrest warrants, the child suffered fatal injuries from physical abuse allegedly inflicted by her mother. Both parents failed to seek medical attention and later disposed of her remains using corrosive chemicals before dumping them in Cedar Creek Reservoir (Stumpy Pond) in Fairfield County. Partial remains were recovered on July 9.

Herring and Harris face charges of homicide by child abuse. Herring was also charged with filing a false police report. Both were denied bond. Additional charges, including destruction and desecration of human remains, have been filed.
