Independent Autopsy Leaves Nolan Wells’ Cause of Death Undetermined

New developments in the investigation into the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells have added to the unanswered questions surrounding the case.

Attorney Ben Crump announced Wednesday that the preliminary findings of an independent autopsy concluded that Nolan Wells’ cause of death remains undetermined.

According to Crump, the independent medical examiner stated that not all of the organs and skeletal structures necessary to conduct a complete forensic evaluation were available for examination. As a result, the examiner said it was not possible to determine with medical certainty exactly how Nolan died.

Crump shared the update alongside Nolan’s family during a news conference held at the 117th NAACP National Convention, where the family again called for a thorough, transparent investigation and urged authorities to continue pursuing every available lead.

The family’s attorneys have emphasized that they are seeking a full accounting of the circumstances surrounding Nolan’s death and believe additional investigative work is necessary before any conclusions can be reached.

At this stage, the independent autopsy has not identified a definitive cause or manner of death, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities and forensic experts are expected to continue reviewing medical evidence, witness statements, and other investigative findings as they work to determine what happened.

For Nolan’s family, the latest findings reinforce their call for answers, accountability, and a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
